In his absence, vice captain Rohit Sharma was handed the responsibility of leading the team.Kohli, who played non-stop cricket over the past several months, was rested keeping in mind his workload. Kohli scored 2735 international runs including 11 hundreds in 2018.In Australia, Kohli led India to their first ever Test and ODI series victories. The India captain scored 282 runs, including a valiant hundred in Perth, from four Tests. Their suspensions were lifted later pending appointment of an ombudsman and Hardik Pandya was back in the squad to play in New Zealand. However, it seems people are not yet ready to forgive Hardik completely for his offensive statements. During the second T20I, a woman spectator was seen holding a banner that said “Pandya Aaj Karke Aaya Kya? [Pandya, did you do it today?]”. This placard was in reference to Hardik’s statement on the chat show regarding his virginity, where he said he told his parents, “mai karke aaya [I did it today].”Also Watch:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
