NASHVILLE, TN – FEBRUARY 16: Bryce Brown #2 of the Auburn Tigers reacts with teammate Malik Dunbar #4 after sinking a basket during the second half of a 64-53 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores at Memorial Gym on February 16, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by Frederick Breedon/Getty Images)Virginia is on its way to the national championship game, thanks to Kyle Guy’s three clutch free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining. Guy went to the line after being fouled by Auburn’s Samir Doughty on a three-point attempt. The Doughty foul will be talked about for years to come, even though it looked like it was the correct call. A missed double-dribble seconds earlier will also be remembered. As you might imagine, Auburn players are not happy with how this game ended. It is gut-wrenching to lose in the Final Four, and even more so in that fashion.Yahoo’s Brandon Velaski captured video of Tiger players entering the tunnel following the game, and in it, guard Bryce Brown can be heard slamming the referees.“NCAA needs to get some new refs.” – @AuburnMBB’s Bryce Brown after controversial call at the end of their #FinalFour game vs Virginia pic.twitter.com/uHC0hbYcyV— Brandon Velaski (@bvelaski) April 7, 2019We can’t blame Brown for feeling angry right now. This loss has to hurt immensely. He may not be happy about James Breeding’s whistle on Guy’s final three-point shot, but it does seem like Breeding got the call right. The no-call on the double-dribble is another issue though.Either way, the Cavaliers are moving on to Monday, and Auburn is left heading home.
